He is currently working on obtaining his private pilot’s license and has completed the Sporty’s FAA certified Learn to Fly course.
Edward is a machinist for the FIRST Robotics Competition team (Team 330 The Beach Bots) where he has learned many mechanical and operational skills which have also assisted him in understanding aircraft and developing his flying skills. He is currently in the Police Explorer Program and after high school plans on pursuing a degree in psychology and criminal justice. Edward is extremely excited to attend the EAA Advanced Air academy and will use this opportunity to learn more about the unique world of flight to help him with his goals in becoming a military and/or police aviator and private pilot!
Valentina Juarez
One of the recipients of the 2020/2021 Cajun’s Aviation Dream Scholarship Awards is Valentina Juarez. She is 16 years old and is from California.
Valentina’s interest in aviation started when her cousin introduced her to the EAA Young Eagles program. This program has taught her so much about planes and the fundamentals of flying one. She loves working with the complex variables and coding which impacts a plane’s ability to takeoff or stay on the ground.
She also enjoys reading and researching aviation related topics and was particularly fascinated with the issues surrounding the Boeing 737. Valentina is excited to attend the Air Academy Camp to expand her knowledge and network with individuals that can help her pursue her dream of being a computer engineer with a focus in aviation. This camp will be an excellent opportunity for her to work with others and exchange ideas regarding problem solving under pressure, which is crucial in the aviation world.
