Fly With Your Angel - New Program for Gold Star Kids

Memorial Day is upon us and is a day that is set aside to remember all of those who died in service to our country. For many, this day is a heavy reminder of who we’ve lost….our heroes that put service above self!

This year our Gold Star Family has been chosen to attend the Coca-Cola 600 Miles of Remembrance Race in Charlotte, NC on Sunday May 28th (will air on Fox at 6:00PM EST). The USAF Thunderbirds and TSgt Wagstaff with Air Force Recruiting coordinated our hero, Maj. Stephen “Cajun” Del Bagno to be raced on the #43 Thunderbird themed race car driven by Erik Jones. A once in a lifetime honor for a once in a lifetime dude! We can’t thank these organizations enough for honoring our hero….there are no words that could even remotely express our gratitude!

Many people do not know what a Gold Star Family is. A Gold Star Family is defined as an immediate family member that lost a loved one to Military Service. It is an honor that no one wants and to be honest we didn’t know what it meant or understand the magnitude of it until we became members. These families are some of the strongest people we have ever encountered and we are grateful to have gained such an amazing support system in the wake of such tragedy.

We have decided to do something special this Memorial Day that honors Cajun’s legacy while specifically helping Gold Star Kids chase their dreams to fly.

We are excited to announce our 4th and brand new program, “Fly with your Angel”. This program is specifically for Gold Star Kids ages 8-24 who lost an immediate family member to Military Service (all branches of service qualify). They can apply for a Discovery Flight (Introduction to flying for kids interested in aviation) or financial assistance for flight instruction and the applications will remain open year-round. (The discovery flight will take place in/near the recipient’s hometown and financial assistance will be applied to the flight school that the recipient is enrolled at)

We will require a brief write up on their fallen hero and an essay on why they are interested in flying. Our goal is to support every Gold Star Kid that applies! We look forward to honoring their Angel and being able to assist these young people on their aviation journey.

If you’d like to support us, please share this opportunity and visit our website to make a donation. Thank you for all of your love and support. We could not keep Cajun’s legacy alive and inspire the next generation without you!

Sidebar - While you are enjoying your 3 day weekend, we would like to challenge you to research a fallen hero, share their story and speak their name. It is one of many ways that you can honor them on this day. A fallen hero that is remembered, will never die!
